Preparatory actions
Within the scope of the LIFE IP “Atlantic region DE” six preparatory actions will be implemented.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, a master plan for three protected areas is to be developed. The breeding centre which had been established in the framework of the LIFE+ Project “Species conservation project Common Spadefoot (Pelobates fuscus) in parts of the Münsterland (North Rhine-Westphalia)” (LIFE11 NAT/DE/000348, completed by now) will be continued and offspring will be released/ reintroduced at several locations.
In Lower Saxony, precise surveys for the natterjack toad, the common spadefoot, the smooth snake and the sand lizard shall complete the current empirical evidence based on which directed actions for stabilising and supporting these four focus species can be developed.
Finally, a concept how to achieve target 1 of the EU 2020 biodiversity strategy and how to implement the Prioritised Action Framework (PAF) for the Atlantic region in Germany (not including coastal and halophytic habitats) shall be elaborated.
