First common spadefoot toads released
Due to the relatively high temperatures, the young common spadefoots in the breeding station in Enniger have developed very quickly this year. Thus, the first tadpoles could already be released by staff of ABU Soest at the end of April. 750 animals each were settled in four waterbodies in the Lippe floodplain and near sand excavations close to Lippstadt.
The corresponding habitats have been created since 2018 within the framework of LIFE IP Atlantic Region DE. These actions are aimed at establishing new populations and creating stepping stone biotopes between existing spadefoot populations.
