Session of the LIFE IP ‚Atlantic Region DE‘ in the framework of the Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland
From September 09 to 13, 2019, the 49th Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be held in Münster, Germany. This scientific conference is held under the motto ‘Science meets practice’ and aims to stimulate exchange between the academic ecological community and practitioners in order to find applied solutions to environmental problems. This year, the otherwise more scientific and English-based conference will dedicate one day, September 10, to practical nature conservation. This ‘Practitioner’s Day’ is addressed to all practical conservationists working in government agencies and non-governmental organizations and will be conducted in German.
The LIFE Integrated Project ‘Atlantic Region DE’ is organizing a session within this ‘Practitioner’s Day’ with the title ‘Implementation of NATURA 2000 in practice: Protecting the species and habitats of the Habitats Directive in the European Union with LIFE, the EU’s funding instrument for the environment’. The session will be held on September 10, 2.00-6.30 pm, and cover the following presentations:
- Dr. Sebastian Schmidt (Bezirksregierung Münster): Das Integrierte LIFE-Projekt „Atlantische Sandlandschaften“
- Christina Müller (BfN): Aktuelle Herausforderungen bei der Umsetzung von Natura 2000 in Deutschland
- Ruth Brauner (LIFE-Beratungsstelle (ZUG)): Das LIFE-Programm der EU – ein Beitrag zur Umsetzung des Natura 2000-Netzwerks auch in Deutschland
- Ralf Schlüter (LANUV): Länderübergreifendes Konzept zur Umsetzung von Natura 2000 - Beispielhaftes Vorgehen im IP-Life "Atlantische Sandlandschaften"
- Dr. Ines Bruchmann (NLWKN): Setting priorities for the conservation of habitat types in Lower Saxony
- Birgit Beckers (Dachverband Biologische Stationen NRW): Die Rolle der Biologischen Stationen bei der Umsetzung von NATURA 2000 und LIFE in Nordrhein-Westfalen
- Dr. Peter Schwartze (Biologische Station Kreis Steinfurt e.V.): Maßnahmen im Kreis Steinfurt zur Verbesserung des Erhaltungszustands von LRT 3130, Moorfrosch und Froschkraut
- Norbert Menke & Christian Göcking (NABU-Naturschutzstation Münsterland e.V.): Schutz und Wiederansiedlung der Knoblauchkröte (Pelobates fuscus) im Rahmen von LIFE
- Christian Höppner (NABU Niedersachsen): LIFE BOVAR - Management der Gelbbauchunke (Bombina variegata) und anderer Amphibien dynamischer Lebensräume
- Dr. Holger Rößling (Stiftung NaturSchutzFonds Brandenburg): Erfahrungen des NaturSchutzFonds Brandenburg aus zehn Jahren LIFE-Umsetzung
